Daydreaming of a
six pack? Wondering how to get six pack abs? Gazing with
envy at the exquisite midriff of the model on the cover of
Oxygen magazine or Men’s Fitness? Looking for the holy
grail of developing a magnificent
midsection?
Well, David
Grisaffi’s
Firm and Flatten Your Abs is exactly what the doctor
ordered. It’s a high quality, in-depth publication devoted
to the development of the 6 pack. Weighing in at an
acceptable 60 pages, David’s book outlines in depth
(including detailed pictures for each exercise outlined)
the absolute best exercises for developing core strength
and building the abdominal area.
This
is not some book jammed with numerous abs exercises or a
bunch of “variations on a crunch.” This book does not try
to sell the “one true” ab excercise. — I’d be very
surprised if you were familiar with any more than a few of
the exercises presented here. And best of all, the majority
of them do not require you roll around on the
floor!
The
book begins by dispelling the various myths associated with
building abs, and ends with David’s Top 15 Abdominal
Secrets. There’s also a nice Q&A (question and answer)
section, as well as a brief primer on diet, exercise, and
supplements. The bulk of the volume, though, focuses on
presenting you with the exercises that will best help you
attain your 6 pack goal.
You
may be asking… do I need any special equipment to train my
abs according to David’s recommendations?
That’s a good
question. While David himself is quick to point out that
it’s not necessary to have any equipment to train your abs
properly (and that includes the late night TV ab-buster
2000 type of products), he does suggest investing in a
Swiss ball.
In
general, I’d agree with him — these things are pretty
amazing, can be used for all kinds of fitness related
purposes, not simply the training of your abdominals. And
they’re reasonably inexpensive as well.
Bottom
line?
Whether you’re
looking to develop greater core strength, build an awesome
6-pack, or alleviate back pain, you can’t go wrong with
David’s book — which, I might add, comes with several bonus
volumes…
